Affordable, Relationship-Building Party Favours for Kids

I have a love/hate relationship with party favours.

  1. I love receiving gifts.

  2. I can’t get over how beautiful some favours look!

Yet more often than not, many favours are impractical. Or when practical - chances are, I already have one. Do I really need another bottle opener? With the names’ of my friends inscribed on it no less. :(

When it comes to kids favours, it frustrates me more when they guise themselves as opportunities to introduce my child to pricey sweets he doesn’t need to be acquainted with. Yet I sympathise with these parents. I’ve been in their shoes multiple times. Useful favours are either boring, or expensive. It’s simply illogical to even consider them.

This would be the cue to push my agenda. Heh!

For some kids, especially reluctant learners, writing is one of the last things they want to do. Letter writing provides an informal, oftentimes fun opportunity for them to practice & improve their:

  • free expression

  • penmanship

  • articulating thoughts

When given out as favours at a party, it also acts as a tool for your kids to write a thank you note to the host and hopefully mark the start of a deeper connection between the little ones!
